The best things happen always by chance! Irmina Trynkos met the grandson of Ignatz Waghalter at the end of 2009. This fortuitous encounter in London set the stage for a long overdue reappearance of the composer’s genial and original music. The pervading dominance of the avant-garde after the War meant his melodic gift was side-lined for more than half a century. It was to time to change this. Irmina received the score and was immediately struck by the astounding beauty and lyricism of these unknown themes, rare qualities in the music of the last hundred years. It didn’t take long for other musical personalities to see a true potential for a unique project which would return Waghalter to his deserved place among the legends of classical music. Irmina made up her mind in her characteristically final fashion – she would record a Waghalter CD with the best possible record label in the world! A team of the highest calibre was assembled – Irmina was joined by the highly-regarded British conductor Alexander Walker, Georgian-American pianist Giorgi Latsabidze and, to top it off in beauty, the world renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London. The journey began with a CD recording of Waghalter’s entire violin repertoire, which was released on the world-famous NAXOS label in October 2012. The album includes the premiere recordings of the Violin Concerto in A major, Op.15 and Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra, Op.9 as well as the Violin Sonata Op.5 and two encore pieces for violin and piano: Idyll, Op.19b and Geständnis. The release took the classical music world by storm. Soon after landing in the British top 20 chart, it started receiving rave reviews and enthusiastic accolades from around the world. Major musical publications in the UK, France, Germany, the USA and other countries, together with major classical music radio stations, could not get enough of Waghalter’s beautiful music and Irmina’s excellence in playing it. Irmina soon started bringing Waghalter to major concert venues, proving her right about the amazing magnetism that this music exerts on audiences and the way they fell in love with it immediately. This success was the culmination of 3 years of hard-work, a pioneering vision and the extraordinary quality of the music and of Irmina’s virtuosity. And this is just the beginning. The ambitions for a project of such artistic value and importance are broader in scope. Irmina will bring Waghalter to every continent and popularize it among musicians and music lovers, with more concerts and more seminars in the near future.
